Separate Nature of Flood Insurance
Standard homeowners, condo, and dwelling property insurance policies generally exclude damage caused by rising water, storm surge, and inland flooding. A separate flood insurance policy through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or an approved private flood carrier is required for rising water protection.
